Microsoft have officially changed their policies on used games and DRM for the Xbox One.  You can find the full articles text below.

Last week at E3, the excitement, creativity and future of our industry was on display for a global audience. For us, the future comes in the form of Xbox One, a system designed to be the best place to play games this year and for many years to come. As is our heritage with Xbox, we designed a system that could take full advantage of advances in technology in order to deliver a breakthrough in game play and entertainment. We imagined a new set of benefits such as easier roaming, family sharing, and new ways to try and buy games. We believe in the benefits of a connected, digital future. Since unveiling our plans for Xbox One, my team and I have heard directly from many of you, read your comments and listened to your feedback. I would like to take the opportunity today to thank you for your assistance in helping us to reshape the future of Xbox One. You told us how much you loved the flexibility you have today with games delivered on disc. The ability to lend, share, and resell these games at your discretion is of incredible importance to you. Also important to you is the freedom to play offline, for any length of time, anywhere in the world. So, today I am announcing the following changes to Xbox One and how you can play, share, lend, and resell your games exactly as you do today on Xbox 360. Here is what that means:
An internet connection will not be required to play offline Xbox One games – After a one-time system set-up with a new Xbox One, you can play any disc based game without ever connecting online again. There is no 24 hour connection requirement and you can take your Xbox One anywhere you want and play your games, just like on Xbox 360.
Trade-in, lend, resell, gift, and rent disc based games just like you do today – There will be no limitations to using and sharing games, it will work just as it does today on Xbox 360.
In addition to buying a disc from a retailer, you can also download games from Xbox Live on day of release. If you choose to download your games, you will be able to play them offline just like you do today. Xbox One games will be playable on any Xbox One console — there will be no regional restrictions.
These changes will impact some of the scenarios we previously announced for Xbox One. The sharing of games will work as it does today, you will simply share the disc. Downloaded titles cannot be shared or resold. Also, similar to today, playing disc based games will require that the disc be in the tray.
We appreciate your passion, support and willingness to challenge the assumptions of digital licensing and connectivity. While we believe that the majority of people will play games online and access the cloud for both games and entertainment, we will give consumers the choice of both physical and digital content. We have listened and we have heard loud and clear from your feedback that you want the best of both worlds.
Thank you again for your candid feedback. Our team remains committed to listening, taking feedback and delivering a great product for you later this year.

I don’t normally post news, but this is huge.  This is monumentous.  This information has to get out to as many people as possible.  The gaming audience were able to convince one of the largest entities in the video game world to change their policies.

This is great, and now i may be able to continue my Xbox path….but it still doesn’t change the fact that it’s $500 (price needs to be lowered). And yes this is nice…but does it still mean that the kinect will be watching you 24/7 or did i read over something?

Hey I’m the guy who runs HiResReset

The extra $100 is because of the included Kinect.  For people who aren’t interested in it, it is unfortunate that it comes packaged in but it’s part of Microsofts vision for the new Xbox, so I don’t personally expect that to change soon.

As for the watching 24/7 thing, Microsoft have confirmed that you can disable any of the Kinects functions from within the settings.  It is only required to be plugged in, but you can turn off the other functions.

I was thinking about posting this on my other gaming tumblr but I’m not sure yet.

So I was experimenting with playing games at 24fps+Motion blur to see if it really does feel acceptable for playing games since it’s the reason people say 24fps movies and TV shows feel normal - the motion blur.
It also helps that with having such low FPS demands, I can juice games to ridiculous degrees.

The above image is Tomb Raider (2013) at maximum settings+ TressFx enabled, rendered at 3840x1620 (4K resolution), using 2xSSAA,  downsampled to 1080p, then cropped to 720 width so that Lara looks larger in the image.

When I saw the shot I took I was really impressed with the way the lighting looks on her skin, as well as the sense of realism you get from the skin due to the texture work.  It’s nothing too exciting, but I really like the way Lara looks in this particular shot.  It also helps that TressFx makes her hair look really, really good when compared to most video game hair.  I like this.

DARLIN the fly episode was the best. Those people don't have a funny bone. Also guess who c: PS: the splicer looks really scary and cool. -Anonymous

You love it because your dad loves it lol.  But it was a great episode, I thought it pulled off humor surprisingly well.

Yeah, right?  I dig it.  I should probably play it soon.  I hear such great things about the DLC for the game that I should probably play that as well.

That Splicer model is actually, by far, one of the most pathetic characters in the game. He's become a mental and physical wreck as a result of insomnia and addiction, hallucinating voices, and he often runs at you screaming, "Don't touch me!" -askgoodolmothy

Huh really?  Cool.  That actually sort of makes it creepier.  There’s something about a completely broken and dejected creature who came to be as a result of what was supposed be Rapture, the city created to advance humanity beyond what morality would allow that makes it seem even more tragic.  You know that because he is in Rapture, he must have once been a bright and talented individual, and see how flawed all the citizens were and how far they’ve fallen.

I should play through Bioshock 2.  That splicer enemy design looks really freaky, I like it.

Cosmo created a great tutorial on how to cheat on your boyfriend/husband.

remember, don’t tell him that you cheated, ask for more from him, and also hey, it’s probably his fault?

That middle guy, what the FUCK?

Jesus christ.

/Backstory: Teens all drinking at a party.  One girl gets drunk and passes out.  Multiple guys rape her and take pictures and video and share it around with their friends, laughing about how “that chick was straight up DEAD!” They were all on the local high school football team, and it’s a popular football town so the entire town was rallying for the boys to get off with no punishment because “boys will be boys!” and “she was asking for it because shes probably a slut anyway.”
